It’s been a busy start to 2023 for the Pier Two team building beautiful jetties, practical boatsheds and fabulous cabins in the Queen Charlotte Sound and Pelorus Sound. So busy that we’re now hiring more talented builders and building labourers.

You can keep your own tools safe and salt-free at home as we provide all necessary cordless power tools, hand tools and the materials to get the job done.

During New Zealand’s Summer Daylight Saving Time and by agreement, our building teams can opt to work a 4 day 40hr week (Monday to Thursday) allowing you the option of a three day weekend. Ask us about how this works.

Pier Two is a Site Safe member. We pay for all staff to attend regular Site Safe courses. We can meet your costs to undertake a Certificate in Health & Safety in Building Construction if that’s a goal you’d like to achieve. We operate apps for workflow management and onsite hazard management, site & task analysis, and risk management.

BUILDER – LBP (Carpentry) Qualified

Senior Building Role – Restricted Work

We’re looking to hire another senior LBP (Carpentry) qualified builder to head up an new additional Queen Charlotte Sound building team. You will oversee some of our restricted building projects, input into design & plans, and help bring our foreshore construction projects to life.

We’ve got a solid year of new and exciting projects booked in already, so your appointment will allow us to meet our clients’ deadlines and say yes to more new building assignments in the Marlborough Sounds.

You’ll work in amazing places, get to know the Sounds & its resilient people, and create legacy structures that bring joy to generations. We’re keen to hire someone who enjoys working in a fun team and is happy to help mentor an apprentice builder.

If you have 5+ years of building experience, and are currently LBP-registered, you could be working with us at the best building sites in Marlborough. And we’ve got a sweet workshop where we build our pontoons and floating ramps.

Pier Two offers an excellent salary and a swag of benefits. We cover your daily boat travel, provide all power and hand tools and give you various allowances – including your annual LBP licensing fees, plus a quarterly bonus is paid on completion targets.

When it’s bucketing down & blowing a gale in the Sounds, we have a range of carpentry projects for you and the team to help craft back at our Grove Road/SH1 workshop.

BUILDERS

One Building Role in Kenepuru/Pelorus Sounds & One in Queen Charlotte Sound

We’re looking for experienced carpenter/builders who will oversee jetty building work in the Queen Charlotte Sound, with a second role based out of Havelock in the Pelorus Sound and Kenepuru Sound.

You will need an eye for detail, proven ability to read and follow plans and be a great person to work alongside. You’ll travel by boat daily to some amazing local places, get to know the Sounds & its resilient residents, and be part of a team building beautiful jetties and floating pontoons that will bring joy to generations of holidaymakers.

On the wet and wild days, you’ll be based at our expansive Grove Road/SH1 workshop, crafting floating pontoons for our discerning clients, and tackling other building projects we are working on.

If you have 4 or more years of building experience, you could be working with us at the best building sites in Marlborough. We offer an excellent salary (ask us what you could earn) and a swag of valuable benefits. We cover your daily boat travel, provide all tools and various allowances.

BUILDER LABOURERS

Two Builder/Labourer Roles in Kenepuru/Pelorus Sounds (Havelock) or Queen Charlotte Sound (Picton/Blenheim)

We’re looking for two fit and keen building labourers to assist with boatshed and jetty building work. One role is for working in the Queen Charlotte Sound (immediate start available), with a second role based out of Havelock in the Pelorus Sound and Kenepuru Sound. Both positions will see you working alongside experienced builders.

You will need to be a good listener and a problem solver, thoughtful in your work and have a cheerful attitude. You’ll report directly to the lead builder on the jobs you’re assigned to, travel by work vehicle & boat daily from our workshop to port and onto the building site. You’ll work in some amazing local places, and be part of a team building beautiful jetties, floating pontoons, luxury cabins and boatsheds that you’ll be proud of.

BUILDING APPRENTICE

Are you a 1st/2nd/3rd Year Building Apprentice looking for new skills?

We’re looking for a Building Apprentice to join our construction team. We specialise in high quality new jetty builds, pontoon and boatshed construction, all within the wider Marlborough Sounds area. We offer travel to site, excellent pay rates, good benefits and a straight up, positive working environment . The ideal applicant would be able to work confidently on their own and/or in a team. You’ll also have excellent time management skills.

We provide all the handheld and power tools you’ll need onsite as well as a fun and positive workplace for you to excel in.

Applicants must have current drivers licence, high level of attention to detail, natural craftsmanship and a good work ethic. In return, we’ll pay you a great fulltime salary that’s above market rates (no hourly timesheets here).  We’ll also cover your training costs and attendance to events to become a fully-qualified carpenter with your own LBP ticket, plus we give you a tool allowance to help fill up your own personal toolbelt.
